the Detroit Lions
In 1930 the National Football League admitted to the league a franchise in Portsmouth, Ohio called the Spartans. After four seasons the team was purchased by a Michigan group and moved to the city of Detroit when it was renamed the Lions. In the 1975 season the Lions moved into the Silverdome, a new, domed stadium in Pontiac, Michigan. Although the Lions dominated the NFL in the 1950s with four division titles and three league championships they have not yet played in a Super Bowl game.
