About the Colorado Avalanche


The Avalanche began 1972 as the Quebec Nordiques in the WHA. The team became part of the NHL in 1979.  In 1995 the team moved to Colorado and was renamed.  The team won the Stanley Cup in the 1995-96 and the 2000-01 seasons.  The Avalanche play in the Northeast Division of the Western Conference of the NHL.
